Swimming
At Riverside Pool, we offer something for everyone. Our teaching pool is perfect for young children to splash around and learn their first strokes. The main 25m pool is ideal for a relaxing swim, challenging workouts, and a variety of activities such as kayaking, water aerobics, and children’s fun sessions. We also host exciting pool parties in both pools, featuring options like flume and funky floats; please ask at reception for details and note that payment is required at booking. Our Learn to Swim lessons cater to adults and toddlers, rookie lifeguards, children aged 3 and over, and adults. Join us at Riverside Pool for fun and skill-building for all ages!
*Competency for lane swimming: minimum age 8 (must be able to swim 2 lengths).
**Lessons will take place in teaching pool and 3 lanes of main pool. From 17:45 – 18:15 lessons will be in the teaching pool only.
***The flume will operate on request – 20 minutes on and 20 minute break.
****Only the deep end of the pool is available for swimming while Aquafit classes are running.
Local schools use approximately 1/3 of the Main Pool and 1/2 of the Teaching Pool. Times are subject to change at short notice – please contact Riverside for the current school programme.
The swimming pool and health suite will be cleared 15 minutes prior to the building closing.

Health Suite
Looking for the perfect way to relax and unwind? Why not visit our health suite which has a sauna with dry heat. This helps with the cleansing and detoxification of the body. A visit to the steam room with humid heat is excellent for skin hydration. Then relax in our spa bath to leave you feeling massaged and invigorated all over. The health suite has private changing facilities, lockers, toilets, a shower area and water cooler, with loungers nearby on which to lie back and relax. There is also easy access to the swimming pool if you fancy a quick dip to cool off.
The health suite is available to those aged 18 and over.
Fitness Classes
Within our fitness studios our fully qualified and knowledgable instructors deliver Functional Fitness, 30/30, Legs, Bums and Tums, Indoor Group Cycling, Stretch and Flex, Kettlebells, Circuit Conditioning, Core, Fat Burn Extreme, Here Come the Girls, Hatton Boxing and Jump Fit. All of the above are easily bookable through the liveArgyll app.
Fitness on Demand
Introducing Fitness on Demand, our new virtual class streaming provider. From the fitness studios in The Queen’s Hall, we’ll bring you a variety of different workouts and class styles at various days and times to ensure there’s a virtual class for you! Find out more here.
Gyms
Leisure members in Dunoon have access to two excellent gyms: the Gym at Riverside and the Queen’s Hall Gym. Both gyms offer a variety of free weights and resistance machines, catering to diverse fitness goals.
All Under 18s are required to complete a consent form before using the gym.
Gym at Riverside
The gym at Riverside is kitted out with brilliant cardiovascular equipment, free weights and plateloaded equipment from Life Fitness, offering you more space to workout and keep in shape.
Queen’s Hall Gym
Whether your goal is weightloss or exercise for general wellbeing, Queen’s Hall gym has a fantastic range of state of the art Technogym cardiovascular and LifeFitness strength equipment. Customers have the ability to work out using both free weights and fixed resistance machines.

Riverside Swim and Health Centre
- Pools: 25m, six-lane pool main pool and a 12.5m teaching pool
- Spacious Changing Village: with pool-side showers, genderless changing cubicles, lockers (requiring a £1 coin) and free-to-use hairdryers
- Reception Area: includes a leisure shop with drinks and snacks, seating area with pool views, accessible W/C, showers with changing space and lifts to all floors
- Gym: situated on the second floor overlooking the pools. Complete with weights and CV equipment.
- Seated balcony viewing area overlooking both pools
Queen’s Hall
- Fully licensed
- Meeting spaces available to suit any size. Fully equipped with Screens / HDMI link for presentations and tea/coffee available on request
- Gym: fully-equipped with latest weights and CV equipment from Technogym
- Two bespoke fitness studios situated on the ground floor
- Soft Play Area: situated on the second floor. Suitable for children up to 10 years old and available for private party hire
- Activity room: equipped with child-friendly games, furniture and entertainment
- Inflatable fun sessions: available during holidays and weekends
- Library: situated on the first floor
- Reception area with selection of snacks and drinks
